Me, in the shower this
Me, in the shower this morning:
With yellow feathers in her hair and a dress cut down to there.
She would meringue, and do the cha-cha.
And while she tried to be a star, Tony always tended bar.
Across the crowded floor, they worked from eight til four,
They were young and they had each other,
Who could ask for more?….
At the Copa, Copa Cobana.
The hottest spot north of Havana.
At the Copa, Copa Cobana…
Music and passion were always the fashion…
At the Copa….
They fell in love….
His name was Ricco, he wore a diamond.
He was escorted to his chair, and saw Lola dancing there.
When she finished, he called her over.
But Ricco went a bit too far, Tony sailed across the bar.
And then the punches flew, and chairs were smashed in two.
There was blood and a single gun shot,
But just who shot who?
(Chorus)
Her name is Lola, she was a show girl.
But that was thirty years ago when they used to have a show,
Now it’s a disco, but not for Lola.
Still in the dress she used to wear, faded feathers in her hair.
She sits there so refined, and drinks herself half-blind.
She lost her youth and she lost her Tony,
now she’s lost her mind!…
(Chorus)
Don’t fall in love….
"Why?", I ask you.

Beer and cocktails last night
Beer and cocktails last night with Lord Percy, Lady Bren, Helen N, Helen, Sarah, Paul, Kearn, DA, Hamish and Ruth.
In a Lord Percy-quality humour moment this morning, I got an envelope from the bank with a PIN number in it marked "tear along dotted lines", so I put it on the floor and ran up and down over it.
You had to be there. Or not.
I’m sure you are all
I’m sure you are all wondering why my post frequency is down on its normal level. Well, it’s just sheer workload I’m afraid. I did a presentation on Thursday evening that meant I didn’t get home until well after 10pm. And last night I was out putting up (illegal) signs to promote my forthcoming plant fair in East Sussex and Kent, and didn’t get back until gone 7pm, working in and driving through absolutely foul weather.
Today, I am in the office again, as there is a lot of work here to be done (nursery stuff), but hopefully tomorrow and Monday I’ll be able to take a bit of time to do some PFE work. My horoscope urges caution when making large purchases, which is timely, as I’ll be ordering a laptop this weekend, most likely from Dell.

I thought the weather today
I thought the weather today was supposed to be awful? Unfortunately, I’ll be spending most of the day indoors, in preparation for my parents coming round for dinner this evening.
I’ve just walked thorugh the
I’ve just walked thorugh the city - it is a glorious sunny and warm day, actually feeling like summer. Lots of people were sitting and lying on the Cathedral Green, enjoying lunch in the sun - pensioners, families, young couples, groups of teenagers - some even wearing skimpy summer clothes. Several people were looking up at the Cathedral spire to see if there was any sign of last year’s peregrine falcons, but I’ve not seen them myself.
And more scaffolding has been taken from the south side of the Cathedral - if I have a moment and the weather is good, I’ll take some photographs.
And I’m trying not to think about the football (a goal down! yipes!).
Stoke have won. Brighton are
Stoke have won. Brighton are relegated. Bollocks.
And I reckon we’ll be looking for a new manager and new striker soon, as I don’t see either Coppell or Zamora staying.

Today’s highlights so far:Looking for
Today’s highlights so far:
- Looking for boots, still. Failing, as ever.
- Walking aorund the Cathedral - I’ve got more pictures showing how the south side looks now that it is mostly scaffold-free. Watch this space.
- Sitting in Priory Park, reading and people-watching in the sun.
- Ordering PFE’s laptop from Dell - an Inspiron 8500 with 512MB RAM, 40GB HDD, plus bells and whistles. Had to use my personal flexible friend, as PFE’s debit card has not yet arrived, and I can’t really wait any longer. No doubt that will create a minor accounting headache for me.
- Erm. That’s it really. A quiet day.

I’m not kidding. At least it is warm and sunny whilst I stand reading the paper here.
My train was 53 minutes
My train was 53 minutes late in the end. Seven minutes short of the delay needed to trigger fare rebates.
And all on a day when I have so much to do that I really didn’t want to be late. I think the next couple of weeks are going to be like that.

Hmm. Dell said 7 to 10 working days for delivery when I placed my order. Now the estimated delivery date is 2nd June. That’s quite a difference.
Busy busy busy here today.
Busy busy busy here today. So expect more quiet.
Pooped. But shall try and
Pooped. But shall try and do a little work for PFE. Or flop on the sofa. A difficult choice.
Meanwhile, links du jour:
- Baghdad’s most famous blogger updates. I wonder if his site will get the same level of interest now that the main conflict is over.
- BBC News: Digital divide is holding back rural businesses - and how! We desperately need broadband in Barnham, not just for the nursery and PFE, but also for the many other small businesses in the area. Related: Countryside Agency "State Of The Countryside" report in full.
- BT says government efforts on broadband are "too slow". I wouldn’t say that BT always acts with equality and alacrity either - why is 128k ISDN more expensive than 500k ADSL?
I’ve spent the evening looking
I’ve spent the evening looking up the best prices and reviews for some of the office machines that I’ll be needing for PFE. As always, anything you guys can throw into the fire is welcome.
- Standalone fax machine: Sharp UXP400H £79.78 inc VAT
- Cordless phone with answering machine: BT Synergy 2150 £79.99 inc VAT
- Mono laser printer: HP LaserJet 1150 £215.78 inc VAT
- Mulitfunction colour printer/scanner/copier: HP PSC2110 £129.95 inc VAT
My comments: the PSC2210 would be nicer, as it includes a memory card reader for quick printing of digital photos, but I can’t justify the extra expense. The LaserJet 1150 gets good reviews, and HP laser printers are fairly rugged in my experience (still using a 4Plus that is ten years old, reliably churning out reams of paper on a daily basis). The BT Synergy has all the features I’m looking for - remote access digital answering machine, plus digital cordless phone so I can sit outside with the laptop in the summer (there has to be some advantage to having a rural office location!). The UXP400H seems to be the pick of a (very large) bunch of similarly featured and priced machines.
So this evening hasn’t been entirely productive - but four hours trawling the web has allowed me to gain good product knowledge and find solutions that will cost me £160 less than I had budgeted. Add that to the savings I’ve made this week on my budgets for telecommunications, insurance and the laptop, and PFE already needs to borrow less money that I had feared (and yes, I’ve already had to spend some of it on accountant’s fees, and some is allocated to legal expenses, but I’m still showing a gain).
Now I’m looking at digital cameras, those in the 3MP class. I’m keen on the Kodak DX4330 as that is closest to the DX3900 that I use at the nursery. But the Fuji FinePix S304 looks good too. Have to admit that the price tag and 10x zoom (plants often need close-ups) on the Kodak do incline me towards that. Anyone got any knowledge/experience they can share?

An update in bullet points:Yesterday’s
An update in bullet points:
- Yesterday’s plant sales at Savill Gardens were ultimately very successful - one of the best ones we’ve had there for a while, which would have been even better if it hadn’t been quite so chilly in the afternoon.
- Went to Sarah and Paul’s party last night, which was most pleasant. In evidence: Kev, Andrea, Kate, Pol, Jo, Dave, Damian and a bunch of Paul’s friends that I hadn’t met before. Just about everyone was already paralytic by the time I arrived, but being tired I was able to catch up fairly quickly with just a couple of beers!
- Up early this morning to walk down the canal to Hunston, passing assorted fishermen and dog walkers, plus coots, moorhens, mallards and swans, all with chicks/ducklings/cygnets. Lots of flowers down there at the moment - irises, hawthorn, buttercups, cow parsley, herb robert.
- Looked for the falcons on the Cathedral. Apparently they are there, and have just hatched two chicks. But I still haven’t seen them flying - last year they were constantly on the wing, gathering prey for the young.
- Now busy ordering equipment for PFE and then starting work on the website.

Happy birthday to me.
32 years ago today, in the Zachary Merton Maternity Hospital in Rustington, West Sussex, late in the afternoon, a boy was born.
Meanwhile, in St Tropez and at roughly the same time, Mick Jagger married Bianca Perez Morena de Macias.
These two events were not related.
This from the eternally lovely
This from the eternally lovely Lizzie:
I shall be previewing my Edinburgh Show -
Lizzie Roper Through My Keyhole
throughout July and just a tad in June. What I would love you to do though, is to make a note in your diaries of two special dates right now:
14th July Etcetera Theatre, 8pm
Oxford Arms Pub, (corner of Camden High St and James Town Rd)
and
21st July Etcetera Theatre, 8pm
Choose which evening you’d like to come and then write it in your diary!!!
If before then you get a friend ringing you up and asking you out on one of those nights you can then say, "that’s very kind of you, but I have to go and see my friend Lizzie in a show, she’s very talented and roode, perhaps you’d like to join me." and then your friend can come too and see how interesting and important you are!
I’d like to get a massive crowd of really friendly faces together for my last two previews so I can skip off to Edinburgh with the sound of your laughter in my ears and your handprints on my bottom.
Through My Keyhole is a filthy excuse for myself to get up on stage, wiggle my arse, talk dirty, be the centre of attention and generally misbehave, its quite fun to watch too! There’ll be a little bit of stand up, a little bit of character work and a lot of cheeky monkey ness, with perhaps a few beautiful moments to make you go AHHHH and love yourself just that little bit harder!
I’ve already tried out some character bits and its all going jolly well at the moment, so fingers crossed, god willing, baby Jesus on side an all that, everything will turn out lovely…
lets face it, this is my Bushtucker Trial… probably the scariest thing I’ve ever done in my life….
Please please please come and support me.
If you have friends who I’ve met but don’t have their emails please forward this on to them and come down together en masse. thanks for all your support.

Click here to see Lizzie’s poster in all its 640K glory.
Then go and do your duty, and be sure to be at the performances.

Busy busy. Thunderstorm outside. Doesn’t bode well for the weekend (it’s my plant fair at Pashley Manor on Sunday).
Tonight I have to drive to Harpenden to give a presentation. Oh joy. Should be back home around 12.30. At least I’ll be able to listen to John Peel on the way home.
Wednesday 14 May 2003
Didn’t get home until after
Didn’t get home until after midnight last night, but it was a good presentation with a receptive (and large) audience. I was so tired on the drive home - I really should have pulled over to take a break, but the thought of getting into bed was quite a motivator for getting home and keeping alert.
Today: two BBC News articles worth a read for different reasons:
- The Weapons Of Bloodless War - a look at so-called "non-lethal" weapons.
- Letwin says Tories need miracle. Joking or not, I think this is very much the truth, and I’m inclined to agree with a lot that David Mellor said earlier in the week.
Three out of five ordered
Three out of five ordered items have now arrived for PFE. Dabs, Comet and BT all win credit for prompt delivery, with two printers, some cables and a cordless phone/answering machine between them. Empire Direct should be delivering a fax machine on Friday. Which just leaves Dell. Frankly, all the rest is fairly much useless without Dell’s piece of the jigsaw -and they’ve now put back delivery from 2 June to 5 June. GRRR.

I suppose I should be encouraged that Dell are now predicting 27 May as the delivery date for my laptop. It is an improvement after all, but it isn’t 16 May, the date they originally said. Let’s just hope that I get a pleasant surprise tomorrow.
I think we should all
I think we should all persuade Scaryduck to go and see Ronnie Ronalde play. He was on in Worthing recently - I wish I’d known, as it would have been great to see him, although I can’t imagine anyone else I know that would go to see him. Other than possibly Ted.

Wouldn’t mind being in Holland now, actually. I’m told that the tulips are lovely.

In the end I didn’t
In the end I didn’t go to the bar last night. I realised that I was fighting a losing battle with tiredness, so took an early night instead. I had a pretty solid night’s sleep, punctuated only by a dream about being in a huge bed in a huge house on a grassy hill, looking out over a vast and beautiful forest - all very restful.
I think the bed may have been by Minotti. And, yes, I’m saving pennies for their furniture. And for the lovely big warehouse apartment to put it in.
This will be linked on
This will be linked on every blog by the end of the day - mark my words: Dating a Blogger, Reading All About It. I’ve written stuff here before now that may well have offended people, and certainly I’ve written stuff of a deeply personal nature. Why? Well, driving traffic is not a consideration, although I love it when people read this site and give (nice) feedback. Mainly it is because writing grayblog is a cathartic exercise that provides a useful outlet, a place to think if you like. Additionally, I tend to write in the same way that I speak when face-to-face with friends (although with marginally less candour), and I do tend to talk about the things that are going on in my life at the time.
That doesn’t mean to say that everything that happens in my life is written down here. There are several threads of my life at the moment which haven’t been mentioned here, or have only been hinted at. That is either because I don’t want everyone to read about it, or because there are other people involved who I’m thinking of, or because the thread itself is still unfolding and is not yet resolved into something complete.
Furthermore, if something is not written about here, it does not mean it is unimportant. In fact, one or two people have noted before that if I don’t say anything about a particular subject, you can be pretty sure that it is really important to me. So watch out for the gaps.
I’m totally underwhelmed by the
I’m totally underwhelmed by the current "big" movies. I enjoyed the first Matrix, but Matrix Reloaded seems to be getting consistently poor reviews, mostly criticising the dialogue as been particularly cardboard-ish in character (i.e unexciting in character and of little real substance). And then there is X-Men 2, which belongs to a genre that doesn’t grab me in the first place, and according to Dan
Actually, based on that summary, it may actually be worth seeing, just for over-dramatic comedy value.
What I need to do is get my pimply backside down to the New Park and see some decent cinema. Must check out what’s on.

I’m absolutely shattered. Yesterday was
I’m absolutely shattered. Yesterday was a very long day in the teeth of a cold wind and the occasional shower. In spite of that, it was reasonably successful, not least due to the hard work that I put in along with the people at Pashley in promoting the event.
Today I have a shedload of paperwork to do, plus a meeting this afternoon that I’d rather not go to, it being with a client who is somewhat pennypinching and time consuming - a bad combination. But hopefully I can extract some useful work out of him for the nursery.
On the plus side, I’ve just had a call from Pashley to say that they’ve made an error with my fee, and I’m due an additional £37. It’s good to work with people who are so helpful and honest.
They also have a new puppy at Pashley. I’m not a dog person generally, but this chocolate labrador is utterly gorgeous.
For those following the progress

Last year, I’m sure the 26th box on the P35 was entitled "box Z". This year, it is "box 26", which doesn’t quite have the same degree of finality to it. Either way, I’ve succeeded in filling it with the word "nil" once again, much to my satisfaction.

This is the first entry posted from my laptop. I’ve got it hooked up to my broadband connection at home now. Tomorrow, I’ll sort out the 64k digital connection at work. I’ll also need to sort out a dialup modem connection using the internal modem for when travelling.
First impressions? It’s groovy. Having not used a laptop much before, there are a few things that will take a little getting used to. I’ll also get myself a USB keyboard to use in the office as well, and maybe a mouse. The screen makes the cream background of grayblog look a lot paler than I’m used to, but perhaps that is how all of you see it.
And it’s very toasty on the knees.

I’m mildly miffed. Only last
I’m mildly miffed. Only last week, I began a twelve month contract with BT for Business Highway, their over-priced 128k ISDN service, which, incidentally, BTOpenworld don’t support (grr). Today I have received an email telling me that the long-promised wireless broadband service for the village is now online and that we can sign up (and get a whole bunch of launch offers - or at least we could if the webpage was functioning correctly). So I’m stuck with having to pay for Business Highway because I’ve not yet got anywhere near the minimum contract period. guh.
Not impressed so far with
Not impressed so far with the providers of the wireless broadband service that is being launched around the area of work and through the so-called Six Villages area. Sending potential subscribers to web pages with dead links, and then not returning my call when I telephone for the missing information, does not create a very positive impression of a tech- and service-oriented organisation. Let’s see if they put it right tomorrow.
Unfortunately, as is often the case with these things, there is no choice but work with this company.
Thankfully, I decided to put off signing up to a 12-month contract with BTOpenworld to provide dialup access for PFE until today, so read the email about wireless broadband before I got into another contract I couldn’t get out of.

Better response from the broadband
Better response from the broadband people this morning. Apparently the service has not yet been rolled out, although they are committed to installing it. The local community broadband project seem to have jumped the gun by promoting the availability of the service before it is actually available.
And to correct an earlier statement, the broken links were not in the provider’s pages, but in the community project’s pages.
At least I now feel that my BT Business Highway box is less of a waste.
As I walked home last
As I walked home last night, both of the adult falcons were flying around the cathedral spire, calling loudly to each other. I stood and watched them for several minutes, and could hear them even when I had walked all the way to my front door.
I bet the Nottinghamshire cricketers
I bet the Nottinghamshire cricketers are cheesed off about this.
UPDATE: Apparently, the BBC automated scorecard system can not cope with the substitution, according to an email I got from BBC Online’s cricket editor, and so Kevin Innes’ maiden century is missing from the Sussex scorecard, which is a shame.
It is mad here at
It is mad here at the moment. The nursery is featured on the front cover of the magazine of the local newspaper, so it is somewhat busier than normal, although the poor weather has negated some of the positive effect of the publicity. In addition to all that, I’m trying to find time for PFE - as of next week, I’ll be dedicating time to it properly, as I will only be working part time for the nursery.
I really could use a break. I was working until nearly midnight last night, installing software on the laptop (HomeSite, PaintShopPro, Filezilla - all for building and managing PFE’s website) and transferring files from my home desktop (need to do the same here in the office). When I finally went to bed after doing some washing up and sorting out some laundry, I pulled a book off the shelf to read. I woke up at 1am with my face pressed into the page. When I woke up this morning, I’d slept through 40 minutes of Sara Cox (no mean feat!), and felt like the bed was completely enveloping me - it was really hard to get out, I was so tired.
But there is still no chance of a break at the moment, so there’s no sense in moaning about it.
Having said what I just
Having said what I just did about not getting a break, I note from my Nectar points statement that I have enough points for a return flight from Heathrow to Amsterdam. I’m tempted to use it. Sooner rather than later.

My thoughts are so far away that you wouldn’t believe.
Well, the weather forecast was
Well, the weather forecast was crap - a dismal day was predicted, and at the moment we have blue sky, white fluffy clouds and warm sunshine. The forecast will not have helped our business at the nursery this weekend, as it is our "picnic weekend" when we invite customers to visit the nursery, see our field full of Iris plants and have a picnic on the lawns - an event that is, as I am sure you’ll understand, somewhat weather dependent.
Can’t imagine that the Meteorological Office will compensate us.

radio grayblog fans will be delighted to learn that I’ve started to put my mind to an update of the playlist, with a number of new tracks. Don’t expect anything to happen quickly, just be aware that an update is in the offing.
Mind you, I should really be spending time on PFE’s website.

I’ve been using FileZilla, an FTP client, and I have to say that I’m very very impressed indeed. Previously, I’ve always used WS_FTP, albeit a very ancient version, and found it to be rugged and reliable. But now that I’m on a PC running Win XP Pro, I thought I should make the effort to upgrade to something more modern (and preferably freeware/shareware). FileZilla is excellent - it has a lovely intuitive interface and seems very easy to use, with all the basic FTP features that I need, plus a whole bunch that I might never use. And it has that other great quality of being a small program.
I know that I don’t normally write about software here, but this is good, so I felt moved to recommend it to you.

Been at work all day, and very busy, hence quiet.
Happy birthday to Lord Percy.
Chicken in white wine, mushroom
Chicken in white wine, mushroom and herb sauce, served on a bed of basmati and brown rice with green beans and a dash of lemon juice. Yum. And all just for me.
Out for beers tonight in W2 to celebrate Greg’s (a.k.a. Lord Percy) birthday.

Beers last night with Lord Percy, Lady Bren, Hamish, Ruth, DJ, Fi, Jools, Sarah, Paul, a new Sarah, Paul F, Kearn and Arron. Went to bed far too late.
Work this morning has seen a coachload of Swedish gardeners, who made the day a little more interesting. I learnt one word of Swedish today - "kiss" (not sure you spell it like that, but that’s what it sounds like), which means "cat". Unless I misunderstood what the lady meant!

Regardless of any other opinion
Regardless of any other opinion on the matter, it astonishes me that the European Union has managed to get this far without a constitution. Let’s face it, any club or society would have a constitution, just to establish protocols for management. Honestly, this strikes me as something that should have been sorted out years ago. But I fear that there will be much wrangling before it is settled, including much stuff and nonsense from the europhobes.
The full text can be found here, although it doesn’t strike me as exciting reading. But I suspect that lots of people will talk about it as if they have actually read it.
I remember years ago going (fairly regularly) to the Fox and Hounds at East Ashling, where they had a paperback copy of the Maastricht Treaty on a bookshelf. I can’t say that I ever saw anyone reading it.

I’m still pooped. I woke
I’m still pooped. I woke up in the middle of the night for no particular reason. Whenever that happens, I never feel quite so rested in the morning, even if I only woke up briefly.
And I still have a shedload of work to do. Anyone fancy coming round to help paint my office?

Oh carp - Blogger swallowed
Oh carp - Blogger swallowed the post I just typed. It was only a ramble about it being a lovely warm sunny day that would have been perfect to spend by the harbour with a picnic and a bottle of crisp white wine. And some good company, of course. Only it was written using much more poetic and romantic language than this rather feeble substitute posting.

Still incredibly busy, but managed to get more painting done this morning in the office. Thanks to the sunny warm weather, each coat is drying quickly, so I may actually get as far as applying some of the emulsion this afternoon.
Good progress with the office
Good progress with the office decorating today. But several days of work remain. However, that’ll not stop me from rewarding myself with some beer in the pub this evening (or, more accurately, outside the pub in the evening sunshine).

I have a sore throat
I have a sore throat and a temperature. On a hot and very humid day, this is not good.
I also have a customer who has ambitious plans and ideas, but expects to pay only peanuts to achieve them. I just warned him that he runs the risk of producing something that "will look crap", but I honestly don’t think that being blunt with the man will make any difference to the end result. We have previously supplied a large number of plants to him, a considerable number of which died because the site was not properly prepared and the soil conditions were awful (the result of heavy machinery having been operated repeatedly over a small area).
I hate getting involved in these sorts of projects, as I always feel that whatever we (the nursery) are involved in reflects on us - and unless it is good, it gives a less than good impression, no matter how good the advice, products and services are that we’ve provided. Such are the hazards of dealing with customers, I guess, particularly those who prefer to cut corners rather than do the job properly.
Diplomatica looks at the EU’s
Diplomatica looks at the EU’s draft constitution and offers an analysis. This site will be added to my favourite places, I think.
Finally put my last MVC
Finally put my last MVC voucher to good use that was given to me for my birthday by Tim and Jane, and purchased The Cinematic Orchestra’s "Man With A Movie Camera" - a new soundtrack to the 1929 classic by Dziga Vertoz, about which more can be found here.
It’s excellent, so I’m going to stay in and have a restful evening listening to it, downloading music and resting my sore throat.
I’m considering moving the links
I’m considering moving the links to other weblogs out of their little pull-down menu and into a simple list of links. Why? Because:
- it would be an excuse to update them and delete the dead links and those that I don’t visit that often these days
- it would provide a good opportunity to add a few new links
- it means that when you lovely users click through the links, this site will show up as the source in the referral stats of the target site (which, currently, it doesn’t)
But, it would make the sidebar on the right of this page even longer than it is now. Hmm. Perhaps I should put them on a separate page? Comments/ideas welcome.

Good progress made with the decorating, including, thankfully, the arrival of materials for cladding two of the walls. The office should look great when it is finished.
Pooped now. Going to rest a while.
I’ve just ordered a new
I’ve just ordered a new 40GB hard drive for my home desktop, which should make the acquisition and storage of mp3s a little easier, particularly after I had a rather embarrassing "download failure due to full disk drive" when receiving an mp3 from Bella last night. I know 40GB isn’t much, but for a desktop that currently only has 2GB and doesn’t merit vasts sums of money being spent on it, I reckon that is plenty.
I don’t really feel like
I don’t really feel like going to the bar tonight. I’m pretty tired, and my throat, whilst a lot better, is still a little sore and would probably be better if not exposed to loads of cigarette smoke. So, I’m going to be a boring old home body tonight. I had originally planned to go and see the invalid Charlie, but thought she might not appreciate a cold in addition to her damaged Achille’s tendon.
The BBC have an article
The BBC have an article on complaints from residents about the noise from new louder train horns on SouthCentral Trains rolling stock. This follows an article on BBC South television, and articles in most of the area’s papers, including the Observer here in Chichester.
Firstly, a factual inaccuracy. The train illustrated in the BBC article is a SouthWest Trains class 159, which is neither new nor fitted with the loud type horns. OK, I’ll take my anorak off now.
Secondly, the people who are moaning about the SouthCentral class 375s are probably the same people who moaned about approaching trains not warning users of the Fishbourne Road pedestrian crossing in Chichester, where several people have been hit by trains over the years. The trains now use their horns as they approach that crossing, and as someone who uses the crossing from time to time, I can say for sure that you’re not going to miss the approach of the new trains.
So it seems that people want the railway to be made safer, but only if it is done quietly. Bloody nonsense. If you bought a house by the railway (it has been there for nearly 150 years, after all!), then you must expect noise from the trains, including their horns. Shut up whingeing, and get a life.
Rant over.
